Etsy Made Local Hobart 2018 – bring it on!

Very pleased to announced that I will be at Hobart’s 2018 Etsy Made Local market! It’s back for the second year and set to be bigger and better than before!

When: 17-18 November 2018

Where: Princes Wharf 1, Castray Esplanade, Hobart TAS 7000

I’ll be there all weekend – my very first two day market! So excited! So mark the dates in your diary.  And with a bunch of new designs and products in the work, you get to strap down and enjoy the ride I’ll take you on with my preparing for this awesome event.

I’ll leave you to enjoy this little watercolour galaxy I painted recently. This one is destined to become a card – I’ll show you when it’s all done.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would.

I would be lying if I said that the cover didn’t caught my eye when I first saw this title – Danielle Donaldson’s whimsical artwork appeals to my soul. But even if it’s not your cup of tea keep on reading anyway…

This book surprised me with the lighthearted and easy reading that lay within. Danielle cleverly leads readers through a journey of discovery to help you find inspiration to paint. You will be introduced to techniques using mix media to help create colour palettes to use in your painting. This is intertwined with watercolour techniques; many of which you’ll be familiar with and some may be new. And there’s simple drawing techniques to add to your repertoire as well.

I enjoyed this book as a prompt for gaining inspiration for my own work. While Danielle does take readers though some small tutorials for her own style, this book is light on learning techniques.

This is a book that will make it onto my bookshelf in the near future. It was a fun read that caught me at a time that I was in a rut myself. It inspired me to dig through my Mum’s scrap quilting material to create myself an inspiration board. It’s also inspired me to just have some fun with my art. For me, it’s worth having within arm’s reach.
